Throughout my career (since 2006) I have served Indigenous people, communities, and organizations via a variety of roles, both on and off the reserve. I commenced my experiential learning journey in 2009 and I have been actively involved in the Indigenous culture and ceremonies in my personal life since then. I am educated in the ways of the Nehiyaw (Cree) people of Treaty 6 and 8 in Alberta and I am personally committed to the Red Road.
One of the ways I support the healing journeys of Indigenous people is by coordinating high quality cultural education for other professionals who serve Indigenous clients. I work with an Indigenous Elder, Fred Campion, who has earned the rights to conduct a number of sacred ceremonies and who has earned the rights to share this knowledge as deemed appropriate.
Together we organize experiential learning opportunities for professionals which supports their cultural education, awareness, humility, competency, and ultimately improves cultural safety for Indigenous clients.
Elder Fred Campion (previously Campiou) is the founder of Prairie Aboriginal Tech Services (PATS) and has been providing cultural services: professionally to government, non-profit organizations, and corporations across Canada for over 30 years; and privately to individuals, families, and communities for over 40 years. He is very knowledgeable in the traditional ways of the Indigenous people (Cree and Sioux teachings), holds a number of traditional ceremonies, and is highly respected by his people. In addition, his kind, respectful, and inclusive approach is well received by non-indigenous participants.
Experiential learning is the most appropriate way to learn about Indigenous culture. Gathering on the land in a
tipi, Elder Fred Campion will provide traditional teachings accompanied by smudging and traditional singing.
NOTE: This is a prerequisite for the Sweat Lodge Ceremony learning opportunity.
Elder Fred Campion will conduct a Sweat Lodge Ceremony which includes smudging, pipe ceremony, teachings, and traditional singing.
NOTE: The Introduction Session is a prerequisite.
I serve as the liaison for these services. Please contact me, Corine Kozuchowski, via email (corine@ckps.ca) to request more information and to register.
